Itinerary for 9 Days Kilimanjaro climbing Safari And Zanzibar
Day 0 : Arrival day(Kilimanjaro International Airport)
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport,travelers will be met by a representative from Africalife tour and transferred to your accommodations in Moshi.This may be a budget-friendly hotel or lodge, at your Moshi hotel. You should be planning to arrive atleast one day before the start of the your tour.Today we will spend in having briefing about your whole safari adventure icluding pre-trek briefing of 5 days Marangu climbing.We will also review your equipment and rent any equipment which is needed.
Day 1 : Marangu gate-mandara hut
The first day of the Moshi-Marangu Route to Uhuru Peak in Tanzania begins at Marangu Gate, which is located at an altitude of 1,860 meters (6,066 feet). Hikers register here and then start their trek towards Mandara Hut. The distance covered on this day is approximately 5.5 kilometers (3.4 miles), and it takes hikers around 3 to 4 hours to complete this section of the journey. The trail passes through dense rainforest, and hikers may encounter various wildlife such as Colobus monkeys and Sykes monkeys. Mandara Hut is situated at an altitude of 2,715 meters (8,874 feet) and offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape..
Day 2 : Mandara hut-Horombo hut
On the second day, hikers leave Mandara Hut early in the morning and head towards Horombo Hut. This section of the trek covers a distance of around 11 kilometers (6.8 miles) and takes hikers between 5 to 7 hours to complete. The trail passes through alpine desert terrain with occasional patches of rainforest. Along the way, hikers will encounter several small streams that need to be crossed using bridges or boulders. Horombo Hut is situated at an altitude of 3,720 meters (12,198 feet), and it offers breathtaking views of Mawenzi Peak and Kibo Peak..
Day 3 : Horombo hut-kibo hut Park
On day four, hikers leave Horombo Hut early in the morning and head towards Kibo Hut via Rongai Third Cave or Gilman’s Point. This section of the trek covers a distance of around 9 kilometers (5.6 miles) and takes hikers between 5 to 7 hours to complete. The trail passes through alpine desert terrain with occasional patches of snow cover near Gilman’s Point. Kibo Hut is situated at an altitude of 4,700 meters (15,394 feet), and it offers stunning views of Mawenzi Peak and Kibo Peak’s glaciers.
Day 4 : kibo hut-uhuru peak
kibo hut-uhuru peak is the summit day where hikers attempt to reach Uhuru Peak before descending back down to Horombo Hut for their final night on the mountain before returning to Moshi on day six. The summit push begins around midnight when hikers leave Kibo Hut for Uhuru Peak via Gilman’s Point or Stella Point depending on their chosen route. This section of the trek covers a distance of around 5 kilometers (3 miles) uphill with an elevation gain of over 1,200 meters (3,937 feet). It takes hikers between 6 to 8 hours to reach Uhuru Peak’s summit at an altitude of 5,895 meters (19,341 feet). After taking in the breathtaking views from Uhuru Peak’s summit, hikers descend back down towards Horombo Hut.
Day 5 : Horombo hut-Marangu gate
After breakfast, descend steadily through moorland to the Mandara Hut, then through a lush forest path to the Marangu National Park gate. Lower elevations may be wet and muddy. A vehicle will be waiting at Marangu gate to drive you back to your Moshi hotel (approximately 1 hour).
Day 6 : arusha-Tarangire national park
Early in the morning on the first day of your safari, you will be picked up from your hotel in Arusha by our driver tem from Africalife Tours at around 6:30 am. The journey from Arusha to Tarangire National Park covers approximately 120 kilometers (75 miles) and takes about 2 hours. Once you arrive at Tarangire, you can expect to see a variety of wildlife including elephants, zebras, wildebeests, impalas, giraffes, and various bird species. After a lunch break, you will proceed for an afternoon game drive until it’s time to return to your accommodation for the night.
Day 7 : Tarangire national park-Ngorongoro conservation area
On the second day of your safari, you will wake up early once again and head towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. After completing the registration process at the Ngorongoro Gate (Masai Gate), you will begin exploring this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Some of the attractions within Ngorongoro include the Ngorongoro Crater – a large volcanic caldera that is home to a diverse range of wildlife including rhinos, lions, leopards, hyenas, and various antelope species. You may also visit Lake Magadi and enjoy views of flamingos and other water birds. Later in the day, you will make your way back to Arusha for flight to Zanzibar
Day 8 : Explore zanzibar
The first day of your Zanzibar beach tour begins with an early pick-up from your accommodation in Stone Town. After a brief introduction to your guide and tour driver,you will start the journey to the eastern coast of Zanzibar, passing through lush plantations, traditional villages, and picturesque landscapes. Your first stop will be at the beautiful Jambiani Village, where you’ll have the opportunity to explore the local market and interact with friendly locals. Next, you’ll head to Jambiani Beach for some relaxation and swimming in the crystal-clear waters. This idyllic beach is known for its powdery white sand and turquoise waters, making it an ideal spot for sunbathing and snorkeling. For lunch, you’ll enjoy a delicious seafood meal prepared by local chefs using fresh ingredients sourced from the area. After lunch, you’ll visit Kizimkazi Village, located on the southern tip of Zanzibar. Here, you can observe the local fishing community and even take part in a traditional dhow boat tour (optional). You may also have the chance to swim with dolphins in their natural habitat (seasonal). As the sun sets over the Indian Ocean, you’ll return to Stone Town for dinner and overnight stay at your accommodation
Day 9 : Prison island-deperture
Morning: Depart at 9:00 AM for Prison Island. Explore its history, interact with giant tortoises, and enjoy snorkeling or swimming. Midday: Return to Stone Town around 12:30 PM. Afternoon: Take a walking tour of Stone Town, visit Forodhani Garden, and indulge in local seafood. Evening: Watch the sunset either on a cruise or from a rooftop while enjoying refreshment
